Blessed Inclusion

You're on the team.  You're included.  You're family.  As a pastor friend of mine recently said, 'In Christ, we're forever family.'  So, I want to challenge you to consider the depth of this.

The Scriptures confirm that without God we were alone, wandering, and without hope in the world.  But, God wasn't ok with that.  It is His nature to love, and so in loving us He made a way for us to come back to Him.  The simple Gospel is just that - God's love in Christ making the way for us to be saved from that hopelessness, to be saved from that emptiness, and to be included in the family of God.  Think about that for a moment.  We've been included in the family of God.  Expounding on this, the Scripture tell us that we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.  Jesus has embraced us as His brothers and sisters and freely gives us His access pass into all of God's blessings and promises.  What's true of Christ is true of you.  You've been given every spiritual blessing in Christ.  And if you can lean in a little more, and peer into the depth of this truth; when you believed in Christ as your Savior, you were included in Christ's destiny, a pre-arranged destiny that you were adopted into.  That means God decided to keep you, so He planned ahead for you to have everything He could give - just like Jesus.

If there's something that stands out to me right now, it's the truth of this blessed inclusion.  When I believed in Jesus, I became part of the family of God.  But, it took me a while to understand the strength of that unity.  I needed to learn how to be a brother to others, and to view other people with the honor that God called me to.  I'm learning to be committed to the body of Christ, and remembering what God has called us to and the greatness of our destiny in Him, has proven to keep me committed.  Our society is being stretched in many areas, and family is being pulled into a thin existence for lots of people.  But God has something much better for us, something that this world cannot touch.  And it's good, really good.  Our blessed hope.  Our heavenly identity.  In Christ, we're forever family.
